The 10 Supplements I Take Everyday and Why I Take Them

I have been asked a few times about what supplements I take so here they are (in no particular order) along with why they are important:

  1. Glucosamine and MSM

    I hurt my low back about 8 years ago (hairline fracture in my L5) and since then it has always been a little (or a lot) achy. I have been taking Glucosamine and MSM for about a year now consistently and I have really noticed a difference in my pain and discomfort level. Glucosamine is a basic building block for the formation of cartilage, ligaments, tendons, and bones. MSM (methylsulfonylmethane) helps with joint comfort and flexibility.

  2. Fish Oil

    Fish oil contains both EPA, DHA, and omega 3 which are important for so many reasons. They nourish the brain, help raise good cholesterol, help balance out cortisol levels (the stress hormone that increases belly-fat and causes inflammation), and help with both depression and anxiety.

  3. B Complex

    I started taking this after I learned that many people are deficient in B vitamins and especially those who eat a vegetarian diet. Although I am not a full vegetarian, I rarely eat meat so I figured I was probably deficient. After taking it for nearly a year I can tell you that I have definitely noticed a difference in my energy levels and overall health.

  4. Probiotic

    I started taking probiotics after doing some research for a client on them. It is INSANE how important they are for health. If you are not taking these you NEED to start. Here are a few articles you can read to learn more about the importance of having healthy gut flora:

  5. Biotin

    Biotin is a B vitamin that supports healthy skin, hair, and nails. I started to taking this because I noticed that my hair and nails were brittle. They have gotten better since then. This deficiency was probably caused by my nearly vegetarian diet.

  6. Magnesium

  7. Vitamin D

  8. Zinc

  9. B12

  10. Vitamin C

    These 5 vitamins are important for many reasons, however, I started adding them after reading an article about adrenal fatigue written on the Wellness Mama Blog about the supplements she added to recover from adrenal fatigue.     Great article – how about chia seeds, coconut oil, enzymes, bee pollen, revive (greens +), cod liver oil as an alternative

      Hi Nathan! So glad you liked the article! Everything you mentioned are amazing additions to any diet. I cook everything in either coconut oil or butter (they have a higher smoke point, I cook in those oils then dress them in other oils like olive if necessary) and add greens, chia seeds, and sometimes bee pollen to my smoothies but I don’t take them on a daily basis like I do the supplements above. If you are taking these things to replace the missing nutrients in your diet just makes sure to take them regularly and that you are taking enough.
      Cod liver oil is a great alternative to the fish oil pills that I take. Finally, enzymes are amazing for the digestive system. I don’t take them on a regular basis myself but I should. Hope that helps!

      Hi there! Thanks for your question. Right now I am taking Renew Life: Ultimate Flora Senior Formula (it’s okay to take if you aren’t a senior lol) 30 Billion cultures per capsule and contains 10 strains.
